The Chairman of the Irish Banking Culture Board is currently seeking suitably qualified candidates for the role of
Board member representing Consumer Interests
The Irish Banking Culture Board, to be formally established in Spring 2019, will be an independent entity seeking to embed a customer-first culture in the banking industry. The Board will promote the highest standards of behaviour and professionalism and is being created at the instigation of the CEOs of the five retail banks licensed in Ireland which are the founding members of the IBCB (Allied Irish Banks, Bank of Ireland, KBC Bank Ireland, Permanent TSB and Ulster Bank).
The Chairman of the Board, Mr. Justice John Hedigan was appointed in December 2018 following an independent selection process.
Mr. Justice Hedigan commenced the role of Chair in January 2019 and is now progressing the establishment of the wider Board membership informed by the findings of a comprehensive public and wider stakeholder consultation process run from October to December 2018.
The selection of a Board member representing Consumer Interests is a key step in the establishment of the Board. Applicants who meet the following criteria are invited to apply for the role:
- Proven track record in advocating for consumer interests vis a vis the Irish banking industry/financial services sector;
- Understanding of consumer protection regulation and legislation in Ireland;
- Energy and enthusiasm for promoting cultural change in Irish banking;
Previous experience as a board member, whilst not essential, would be an advantage.
