Bereaved Customers
- Bereaved Customers
What we heard
The theme of Bereavement came through in the commentary from several respondents to the Public and Stakeholder Consultation Report
What we did
In 2019, we launched the Common Commitment of Care with Member Banks, which provides for improved services for customers (and their families) who have experienced a bereavement. In 2020, we assessed the impact of the Common Commitment of Care. The assessment included consulting with important stakeholders such as Money Advice and Budgeting services (MABS), The Irish Hospice Foundation (IHF) and the Coroner’s Court, and their feedback indicated that the Common Commitment of Care had made a positive difference.
Today, we continue to work with key stakeholders and customer advocates around commitments to bereaved customers, including recent positive engagement with the Irish Association of Funeral Directors (IAFD).
The Dublin District Coroner’s Court
This court has published the Common Commitment of Care on their new website, making the information easily available for people most in need of assistance. We continue to liaise with the Coroner’s Court to streamline the process for customers further.
Many people have experienced and will experience the death of someone close. People may also be finding a previous bereavement more difficult at this time.
